Center Valley, PA (September 12, 2015) – Haverford College scored the lone goal of the game with just 2.7 seconds left in the first-half as the Fords held off a furious second-half effort from the DeSales University women's soccer team in a 1-0 loss on Saturday afternoon.
After a giveaway at midfield with just under 30 seconds left in the first-half, HC (4-0) had a 4-on-1 break that was broken up by sophomore

DeSales (3-2) came out firing in the second-half, dominating play for much of the final 45 minutes and holding an 8-3 shot advantage. DSU had two gorgeous chances to tie the game that were miraculously saved.
The first came in the 67th minute when junior
Rachel Shive broke free and had her shot tapped away by the keeper but right to sophomore
Marissa Raia who fired a shot into an open net that was deflected over the cross bar by a diving Ford defender just before crossing the line.
The second came in the 82
nd minute when sophomore
Gabby Lucchese broke free for a 1-v-1 with the keeper and hit a hard shot to the left of the keeper that was snatched out of the air to preserve the one-goal lead and eventually the win.
Haverford finished the game holding a 13-11 advantage in shots, while the Bulldogs had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Freshman
Haley Jacobs played well in net making eight saves for DeSales.
