Newport News, VA (September 19, 2015) – The DeSales University volleyball team split two matches on day two of the Christopher Newport University Invitational to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record.
The Bulldogs (9-5) opened Saturday with a 3-0 loss to #3 Christopher Newport (11-1) before rebounding with a 3-0 win over Averett University (8-7), 25-19, 25-17, 25-14.
Match #1 (L/3-0 – 14-25, 10-25, 12-25)The third ranked team in the country swept DeSales in the first match of the day. Freshman

Logan Wieziolowski each had four kills in the loss and junior
Lisa Wallitsch finished with a team-high eight digs.
Match #2 (W/3-0 – 25-19, 25-17, 25-14)DeSales rebounded from the CNU loss to record a 3-0 sweep of Averett. Savite' finished with 13 kills and 12 digs, senior
Kait Anderson had eight kills, and Wieziolowski totaled six kills and hit .600.
Wallitsch dished out 34 assists and had a team-high six service aces, while freshman
Natalie Gray posted 14 digs and five service aces.
Savite' was honored as the lone Bulldog named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Manhattanville College for a Freedom Conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
