Center Valley, PA (September 29, 2015) – The DeSales University field hockey team came up just short in its comeback attempt falling to Susquehanna University, 3-1, in a non-conference game on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.
The Crusaders (7-3) scored first breaking a scoreless tie with a marker with just over six minutes left in the first-half, continuing to lead by one at the break.
SU added a second goal 8:40 into the second-half before the Bulldogs (1-8) pulled back within one goal at the 49:55 mark on a penalty stroke from freshman
Chelsea DeFrancisco caused by senior
Meryah Harding in the circle.
DSU had a terrific chance with just over 10 minutes left as Harding broke free in the circle and had a 1-v-1 with the keeper but her shot was saved and nothing came of the ensuing penalty corner as the Crusaders added an insurance goal in the 68
th minute to post the final tally.
Freshman
Savanna Lacek was solid in goal making 15 saves in the loss.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday when they take to the road traveling to Immaculata University for another non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
