First-Half Goals Lead DeSales past Albright, 2-0

Reading, PA (September 30, 2015) – The DeSales University men's soccer team scored twice in the first-half and the defense did the rest in the second-half leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 win at Albright College on Wednesday evening.

Freshman Zach Reichard and Michael Kirby scored within 4:01 of each other in the 21st and 25th minutes of the first-half staking the Bulldogs (5-5) to a 2-0 lead.

Reichard began the scoring as a pass from Kirby was deflected by a Lion defender but lost as Reichard regained control and fired a shot into the net for his fifth goal of the season.  Kirby then needed just 4:01 to give DSU a two goal cushion scoring his fourth of the season, unassisted.

The DSU defense and sophomore Dan Sulpizio did the rest with Sulpizio making a gorgeous save, one of five on the night, with just over six minutes left to preserve his first career shutout in the win.

Albright had a 17-8 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action this weekend as they open MAC Freedom play at King's College on Saturday evening.
