St. David's, PA (September 30, 2015) – Despite early leads and strong starts in each set the DeSales University volleyball team was unable to hold off late runs by #10 Eastern University in a 3-0 (17-25, 11-25, 17-25) loss on Wednesday evening in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs (11-6, 2-1 MAC Freedom) led 4-1 and were tied at 10 in the first set before EU (16-3, 3-0 MAC Freedom) reeled off six straight points to take a 16-10 lead and eventually the set in opening stanza.
In the second set, DSU scored the first four points and continued to lead 6-5 before Eastern ran off 10 straight points leading 11-8 in the middle of the set to go up 2-0.
In the third set, DeSales again played tough early taking a 7-5 lead before six straight points gave the hosts an 11-7 lead. DSU fought back to tie the set at 13 before a second rally of six straight points by the Eagles put the match away.
Sophomore
Logan Wieziolowski had six kills and two blocks, freshman
Gabby Savite` added five kills and six digs, junior
Lisa Wallitsch finished with 13 assists, and freshman
Natalie Gray totaled 10 digs in the loss to lead the way.
The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend when they head back to Eastern to take on Stevenson University and Lebanon Valley College in the MAC Crossover matches.
