Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | BJ Spigelmyer - DeSales University Sports Information Director

Reichard’s Late Goal gives DSU a 2-1 Win over Leb. Val.

Elizabethtown, PA (September 5, 2015) – Freshman Zach Reichard scored his second goal of the season with just 37 seconds left in the second overtime leading the DeSales University men's soccer team past Lebanon Valley College, 2-1, in the opening day of the Brothers Pizza Blue Jay/Red Devil Classic at Elizabethtown College.

After a scoreless first-half LVC (0-2) opened the scoring just 4:43 into the second-half when Austin Freeman scored off an assist from Tyler Skye.

The Bulldogs (2-0) found the equalizer in the 72nd minute when junior Ian McArdle scored his first career goal off an assist from freshman Michael Kirby and senior Patrick Roche.

The game remained tied into overtime and thru one extra period.  The result seemed destined to be a tie when Roche took control of a loose ball in the box, found Reichard who turned and scored in the lower right corner of the net with just 37 seconds left to play in the second overtime for the win.

The win gives DSU its first 2-0 start to a season since the 2010 season.  Sophomore Dan Sulpizio made five saves in net as DSU held a 17-13 edge in shots and an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks.

The Bulldogs are right back in action tomorrow when they take on tournament host Elizabethtown College at 2:00 pm.
