Late Rally Lifts Women's Soccer past FDU-Florham, 3-2

Madison, NJ (October 1, 2016) - The DeSales University women's soccer team scored two goals over the final 11:09 of the game to erase a 2-1 deficit and earn a 3-2 win at FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (5-6, 1-0 MAC Freedom) open the conference season snapping a five-game losing streak with the win.  DSU got on the board first when junior Isabel McPeak scored from the top of the box after freshman Barbara Pizarro fed the box and junior Angelica Bertola touched a pass to McPeak for a shot just 2:01 into the game.

FDU (4-5-3, 0-1 MAC Freedom) tied the game in the 37th minute on an OWN goal when a corner kick feed went off a Bulldog defender trying to clear it and into the net as the game went into the half tied at one.

The Devil's took a 2-1 lead in the 60th minute when again a DeSales defender made a mistake in the box committing a hand ball that led to Brittni Calleo scoring a penalty kick.

The Bulldogs got a gift of their own in the 79th minute when a pass into the box was deflected into the net by a Devil defender giving the Bulldogs an OWN goal and tying the game at two.

The game seemed headed for OT with just over a minute left when senior Jess Wetherhold sent a corner feed into the box where junior Rachel Logue headed the feed to the back post and Bertola was there to clean up the header for the eventual game-winner.

DSU dominated play holding a 22-8 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.  Sophomore Haley Jacobs had one save in the win.

DeSales is back in action next Saturday when they host King's College in another MAC Freedom match-up beginning at 3:00 pm.
