Center Valley, PA (October 11, 2016) - Sophomore
Max Cortina was in the right spot at the right time tapping home a cross from fellow sophomore
Zach Reichard just 28 seconds into the first overtime lifting the DeSales University men's soccer team past Manhattanville College, 1-0, in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday afternoon.
Cortina's game-winner was DSU's (7-5-2, 2-1 MAC Freedom) first shot on goal all afternoon. Reichard got the ball on the right sideline, dribbled into the box and sent a cross five yards above the goalmouth that got past the Valiant (8-6, 1-2 MAC Freedom) keeper and saw a defender whiff on the clear attempt as Cortina knocked the ball into a wide open net.
Junior
Dan Sulpizio and the Bulldog defense kept DSU in the game as Sulpizio made eight saves, including a couple from point blank range to force the OT period. MVC had an 11-8 advantage in shots (8-1 in shots on goal) and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Delaware Valley University for another MAC Freedom game set to begin at 7:30 pm.
