Volleyball Splits Day Two of RIT Invitational; Gray Named to All-Tournament Team

Rochester, NY (October 15, 2016) - The DeSales University volleyball team split two more matches on day two of the RIT Invitational with a 3-1 win over Trine University and a 3-1 loss to host RIT on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Natalie Gray was honored as the lone Bulldog (16-10 overall) named to the All-Tournament Team.

Match #1 (W/3-1 vs. Trine University)
After splitting the first two sets DSU dominated the third and fourth sets with 25-13 and 25-15 wins hitting .179 and .222 in the last two sets.

Sophomore Gabby Savite` led the attack with 13 kills and added 13 digs.  Freshman Morghan Shoemaker finished with 10 kills and hit .308 for the match.  Senior Lisa Wallitsch finished with 37 assists, while freshman Cristal Fernandez had 13 digs and Gray added 10 digs and two aces.

Match #2 (L/1-3 vs. RIT)
RIT took the first set 25-17 before these two teams played three extremely tight sets with RIT taking sets two and four by scores of 25-22 and 25-23, and the Bulldogs taking the third set, 25-23.  DSU hit .179 for the match and had five blocks.

Savite finished with 18 kills and hit .310, adding 15 digs, and Shoemaker had 12 kills.  Senior Jess Swanson totaled nine kills.

Wallitsch finished with 43 assists and Gray had a team-high 17 digs.  Freshman Jenna Sievert had a team-high four blocks in the loss.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Manhattanville College in a MAC Freedom match beginning at 7:00 pm.
