Women's Soccer Win Streak Snapped at Four with 3-0 Loss to Misericordia

Center Valley, PA (October 18, 2016) - The DeSales University women's soccer team saw its four-game win streak come to an end suffering a 3-0 loss to Misericordia University on Tuesday afternoon in MAC Freedom action.

MU (12-3, 5-0 MAC Freedom) takes over sole possession of first place with the win after both teams entered the game with an unbeaten mark of 4-0 in MAC Freedom play.

The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when a free kick from Kristen Ritter into the box was headed into the goal by a DSU (8-7, 4-1 MAC Freedom) defender for an OWN goal.

Misericordia then got its insurance goal in the 36th minute when Jacqueline Stevens found a steaking Evelyn Logie down the right side.  Logie took the pass about 25 yards uncontested and fired a shot from just inside the box over the Bulldogs keeper's head for a 2-0 lead.

MU made it a 3-0 lead in the 75th minute when Alex Gallagher knocked in a centering pass from Stevens.

DSU had its best scoring chance just minutes MU's third goal when junior Gabby Lucchese flicked on a pass that got freed up junior Angelica Bertola who fired a shot up over the Cougar keeper but square off the crossbar and out into play.

Misericordia had a 11-6 edge in shots and a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks for the game.  Sophomore Haley Jacobs made two saves in the loss.

DeSales is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Wilkes University for an important MAC Freedom game set to begin at 7:30 pm.
