Men's Soccer Stays Unbeaten in Seven Straight with 1-1 Tie at William Paterson

Wayne, NJ (October 5, 2016) - The DeSales University men's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to seven straight posting a 1-1 double overtime tie at William Paterson University on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs (6-4-2) scored first in the eighth minute when sophomore Alex DiRienzo scored on a one-timer inside the left post on a feed from fellow sophomore Max Cortina.

WPU (6-4-2) tied the score just over 11 minutes later as the moved into the half.

The Pioneers out-shot DeSales 12-1 in the second-half but were unable to get the winning tally and both teams went scoreless in the two overtime periods as the game ended in a draw.

Junior Dan Sulpizio made seven saves in the tie.

WPU had a 24-7 advantage in shots and a 10-6 edge in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend when they host King's College in a MAC Freedom game beginning at Noon.
