Field Hockey Falls in OT, 1-0, to Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (October 8, 2016) - The DeSales University field hockey team fell just short falling to Delaware Valley University, 1-0, in a MAC Freedom game on Saturday afternoon.

After both teams went scoreless thru the first two regulation periods DSU (4-9, 0-3 MAC Freedom) had the first chance in the first OT to win the game.  Freshman Kylie Honnick-Payne broke free and was 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper inside the box but her shot was stopped by a diving Aggie (5-8, 2-1 MAC Freedom) keeper.

Just over a minute later DVU's Mackenzie Harper broke free on the right sideline and centered a pass into the box where Samantha Collyer was there to grab a tipped pass from the defense, spin, and fire a shot inside the far post for the game-winner.

DSU finished the game out-shooting DelVal, 10-7, and had an 11-5 advantage in penalty corners.  Freshman Katarina Polyviou made two saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday when they host Immaculata University in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
