Washington, DC (December 5, 2016) - Catholic University broke open a close game to start the second-half using a 14-0 run to build a 15-point lead and never looked back in an 81-56 win over the DeSales University men's basketball team in non-conference action on Monday evening at the DuFour Center.

Seniors Ryan Callahan (12) and Brian Laird (11) were the lone double digit scorers in the loss for DeSales (3-3).  Freshman Kweku Dawson-Amoah added nine points in his first career start and senior Kuity Slanger had team-highs with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Catholic (5-0) got 22 points from Jay Howard and 21 points off the bench from Jimmy Golaszewski in the win.  Andre Mitchell also had double figures with 11 tallies.

The Bulldogs started quickly holding a 10-3 lead over the first six minutes of the game before the Cardinals out-scored DeSales 27-8 over the next nine minutes building a 12-point halftime advantage.  DSU cut the margin down to as many as six points on a three from junior Connor Jones before settling for an eight-point deficit entering the halftime locker room.

DSU quickly erased the halftime margin using a 9-2 run over the first 3:08 of the second-half to pull within one point (41-40) on a lay-up from Callahan but CUA scored the next 14 points to take a 55-40 lead and out-scored the Bulldogs 41-16 over the final 15:46 to take home the win.

DeSales did win the battle on the glass (30-29) but committed 23 turnovers leading to 25 Cardinal points in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action quickly when they return home to host PSU-Berks on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall beginning at 8:00 pm.
