Washington, DC (December 5, 2016) - Catholic University broke open a close game to start the second-half using a 14-0 run to build a 15-point lead and never looked back in an 81-56 win over the DeSales University men's basketball team in non-conference action on Monday evening at the DuFour Center.

Kweku Dawson-Amoah added nine points in his first career start and seniorÂ
Kuity Slanger had team-highs with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Catholic (5-0) got 22 points fromÂ
Jay Howard and 21 points off the bench fromÂ
Jimmy Golaszewski in the win. Â
Andre Mitchell also had double figures with 11 tallies.
The Bulldogs started quickly holding a 10-3 lead over the first six minutes of the game before the Cardinals out-scored DeSales 27-8 over the next nine minutes building a 12-point halftime advantage. Â DSU cut the margin down to as many as six points on a three from juniorÂ
Connor Jones before settling for an eight-point deficit entering the halftime locker room.
DSU quickly erased the halftime margin using a 9-2 run over the first 3:08 of the second-half to pull within one point (41-40) on a lay-up from Callahan but CUA scored the next 14 points to take a 55-40 lead and out-scored the Bulldogs 41-16 over the final 15:46 to take home the win.
DeSales did win the battle on the glass (30-29) but committed 23 turnovers leading to 25 Cardinal points in the loss.
The Bulldogs return to action quickly when they return home to host PSU-Berks on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall beginning at 8:00 pm.
