Women’s Hoops Looking for Seventh Title vs. FDU-Florham on Saturday

Center Valley, PA (February 26, 2016) – The DeSales University women's basketball team takes on FDU-Florham Saturday afternoon in the MAC Freedom title game as the Bulldogs will be looking to win their seventh MAC Freedom Championship taking on the three-time defending champions at 1:00 pm in Billera Hall.
 
The top seeded Bulldogs enter the game with a 20-6 overall record, while the second seeded Devils also arrive in Center Valley, PA with an identical 20-6 overall mark.
 
Game time is set for 1:00 pm and admission for the event will be $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens, and $2.00 for students w/ID.  All children under the age of six are FREE and all DeSales students with a valid student ID will also be admitted for FREE.

DeSales/FDU-Florham History:
DeSales owns a 33-10 lead in the all-time series between the two teams.  The two teams split the season series with the road team winning each time by double digits.  The Bulldogs took the first meeting, 74-51, back on January 16th, with the Devils winning the rematch on February 13th, 66-48.  These two have met twice in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament both coming in the MAC Freedom title game in 2008 (a 75-60 DeSales win) and 2014 (a 69-59 FDU win).  DeSales is 17-5 all-time vs. the Devils at home.
 
Regular Season Series
Game One at FDU-Florham (DSU – 74-51)
The Bulldogs shot 47.5 percent from the field and opened up a 23-point lead thru three quarters in the win.  DSU committed just 11 turnovers in the game and out-scored FDU, 36-12, in the paint.  Junior Morgan McCollian led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Jen Napolitano added 20 points.  Junior Megan Baird came off the bench to score 13 points, hitting four three-pointers.  FDU was led by junior Alyssa McDonough and Fernanda Reyes each with 16 points.
 
Game Two at DeSales (FDU – 66-48)
The Bulldogs shot just 27.5 percent and the Devils hit 43.8 percent in the second meeting between the two teams.  McCollian and Napolitano again led the way with 13 points each in the loss.  The Devils had four players in double digits including Danielle Leguillou (18 points), McDonough (16 points), senior Shalette Brown (12 points and 23 rebounds), and Rachel Groom (10 points).
 
DeSales in the MAC Freedom Postseason:
DeSales is making its 19th straight MAC Freedom Tournament appearance.  DSU joined the MAC Freedom at the start of the 1997-98 season and hasn't missed the post-season.  The Bulldogs have won six conference titles and are 20-12 all-time in the MAC Freedom postseason.
