Elizabethtown, PA (February 27, 2016) – Elizabethtown College out-scored the DeSales University men's lacrosse team 8-3 in the second-half en route to a 13-6 win over the Bulldogs in the season opener on Saturday afternoon for DeSales.
DSU (0-1) erased a 2-0 first quarter deficit with three straight goals early in the second quarter to take a 3-2 lead before ETown (2-1) answered with three straight to take a 5-3 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs scored the first goal of the second-half to get within one but the Bluejays scored twice in the span of 56 seconds to take a 7-4 lead and scored four of the next five goals to put the game out of reach.
Sophomore
Joe Neggia led DeSales with four goals and an assist in the loss. Senior
Ryan Loughlin and junior
Jake McNamara each had a goal, while sophomore
Josh Harman added two assists and senior
Matt Warnken and junior
Justin Wilson both had assists.
Warnken made 12 saves in the pipes and senior
Tim Barry had a team-high six ground balls. McNamara was 5-for-13 in face-offs and sophomore
Bryan Weber was 3-for-9.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, March 2
nd when they host The University of Scranton in the first-ever lacrosse game on DSU's new home turf stadium. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
