Dallas, PA (March 19, 2016) – The DeSales University softball team suffered two losses in the MAC Freedom opener on Saturday afternoon at Misericordia University falling by scores of 7-1 and 1-0.
Game One (L/1-7)Misericordia (6-6, 2-0 MAC Freedom) broke open a close game with six runs in the fifth inning to earn the 7-1 win. DSU scored its lone run in the top of the sixth inning when freshman

DSU had just three hits in the game one loss. Sophomore
Haley Frati reached base three times with two walks and a single. Sophomore
Andrea Artesani took the loss allowing three earned runs over six innings pitched.
Game Two (L/0-1)Misericordia took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run from
Whitney Ellenberg and that lead stood up.
The Bulldogs threatened in the third when junior
Alexa Beaumont doubled and moved to third on an error with two outs but was stranded. DSU also had a runner at second in the sixth and seventh innings but were unable to find the tying marker.
Sophomore
Hailey Warner was terrific in the circle allowing just three hits and striking out two despite the loss. Beaumont had two of DSU's seven hits.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 24
th when they travel to King's College for another MAC Freedom game beginning at 3:00 pm.
