Center Valley, PA (March 23, 2016) – Neumann University scored eight runs over two innings erasing a 3-0 deficit and breaking a tie at five in an 8-5 win over the DeSales University baseball team on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Butz Field.
The Bulldogs (5-7 overall) opened up a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first inning on two hits including an RBI single from sophomore
Conner Lafferty and a Knight (8-9) error and added another run in the third when junior
Tommy DePaul tripled and came around to score on a sacrifice fly from senior
Colby Kulig.
Neumann took a 5-3 lead in the fourth scoring five times taking advantage of three walks in the inning but the Bulldogs pulled even in the bottom of the fifth plating two runs on sacrifice flies from Kulig and junior
Mike Kacergis.
The game remained tied into the eighth inning when the Knights used four hits including two doubles and a triple to plate three runs and DSU did not threaten over the final two innings.
Neumann out-hit DeSales, 10-9, including five extra base hits. DePaul was the lone Bulldog with multiple hits (2), while Kulig had two RBIs in the loss. Sophomore
Adam Donovan took the loss allowing three runs over two innings pitched in relief.
The Bulldogs are right back in action tomorrow when they travel to King's College for a MAC Freedom game beginning at 3:30 pm.
