Union, NJ (March 23, 2016) – Kean University scored six straight goals in the second-half, including five in the fourth quarter, breaking open a tight defensive battle in a 7-2 win over the DeSales University men's lacrosse team in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs (0-6) hung tough in the opening half holding the Cougars (5-2) to just one goal over the first 30 minutes taking a 2-1 lead into the halftime locker room on goals from senior
Ryan Loughlin and junior
Tyler Newman.
Kean tied the game with the only goal scored in the third quarter but exploded for five goals in the fourth quarter to take control and record the win.
KU had a 52-12 advantage in shots for the game and a 33-21 edge in ground balls. Senior
Matt Warnken was outstanding keeping the Bulldogs in the game making a season-high 19 saves in between the pipes. Fellow senior
Tim Barry also played well on the defensive end causing a team-high five turnovers and picking up three ground balls.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they return home to host Stockton University in another non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
