Bulldogs Swept by Cortland, 9-4 and 9-0

Center Valley, PA (March 26, 2016) – The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, 9-4 and 9-0, to SUNY-Cortland.

Game One (L/4-9)
After Cortland (11-3) scored three runs in the top of the first inning the Bulldogs (2-11) fought back to tie the game at three on two Red Dragon errors and RBIs from sophomore Haley Frati and freshman Sunny Greenberg.

Cortland however regained the lead for good in the second inning scoring five times to take an 8-3 lead as the two teams exchanged runs in the third inning to finish up the scoring.

Frati score twice in the loss as DSU totaled five hits.  Sophomore Andrea Artesani took the loss allowing four earned runs.  Senior Elisa Andrew pitched very well in relief tossing six strong innings allowing just four hits and a run in the loss.

Game Two (L/0-9)
Cortland opened up a 3-0 lead with one run in the first and two in the second and pulled away late with four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth en route to the win.

The Bulldogs had just one hit, a chopper in front of the late, by junior Lyndsay Dotzman to break up a no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Sophomore Hailey Warner took the loss allowing seven runs over 4 2/3 innings pitched.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Montclair State University for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
