San Juan, PR (March 7, 2016) – The DeSales University softball split two games on day two of its spring break trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico on Tuesday afternoon falling to Randolph College, 3-0, before defeating Centenary College, 9-1, in the second game.
Game One (L/0-3 vs. Randolph)
The Bulldogs managed just one hit, a single by senior
Samantha Gibson, while Randolph scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to earn the 3-0 win.
Sophomore
Hailey Warner took the loss despite pitching well allowing just three hits and one run over four innings pitched.
Game Two (W/9-1 vs. Centenary)
The Bulldogs scored three times in the fifth and five times in the sixth to break open a close game in the win over Centenary.
In the fifth freshman
Sunny Greenberg and
Carly Benjamin each had RBIs and in the sixth Greenberg knocked home two more, while junior
Alexa Beaumont and freshman
Madeleine Nasir also had RBIs in the inning.
Freshman
Leann Panconi earned her first collegiate win tossing 5 2/3 innings allowing just two hits and one unearned run. Sophomore
Haley Frati, freshman
Adrianna Barone, Nasir, senior
Amanda Setzer, and sophomore
Brittany Hunter all had two hits in the win.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they take on Randolph and Centenary once again.
