San Juan, PR (March 9, 2016) – The DeSales University softball team dropped its final two games on its spring break trip out to San Juan, Puerto Rico to Randolph College by scores of 3-1 and 7-2 on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Game One (L/1-3 vs. Randolph)The Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning but Randolph answered with single runs in the second, fourth, and sixth innings as DSU managed just two hits in the game.
Freshman
Madeleine Nasier and
Chandler Gottshall had the Bulldogs two hits, while sophomore
Andrea Artesani scattered 10 hits over six innings allowing just two earned runs in the loss.
Game Two (L/2-7 vs. Randolph)Randolph scored once in the first inning and opened up a 7-0 lead with four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth. DSU rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single from freshman
Sunny Greenberg and RBI groundout from sophomore
Amanda Setzer.
DSU totaled six hits, one each from six different players in the loss. Junior
Alexa Beaumont reached base twice and stole one base. Sophomore
Hailey Warner took the loss allowing four earned runs over four innings pitched.
The Bulldogs return home and are back in in action on March 17
th when they host local rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 3:00 pm.
