Clearwater, FL (March 8, 2016) – Clark University scored with 2:05 left in the fourth quarter and 58 seconds into the second overtime handing the DeSales University men's lacrosse team its second straight one goal loss on Tuesday evening in Clearwater, FL.
The Bulldogs (0-3) scored four straight goals at the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second quarter to take a 5-3 lead before Clark tallied two straight to tie the game at five at halftime.
DSU scored three of the first four goals to open the second-half to again lead by two goals before Clark tied it early in the fourth quarter.
Junior
Justin Wilson gave the Bulldogs the lead with 6:39 left to play off an assist from junior
Tyler Newman but Clark tied the game with 2:05 left to play as the advanced into overtime.
Neither team was able to score in the first OT period despite DSU out-shooting Clark, 5-1, in that first extra session. In the second OT DSU won the face-off but turned the ball over and Clark scored on its first shot 58 seconds into the second extra period.
Senior
Ryan Loughlin led the Bulldogs with four goals, while sophomore
Josh Harman and sophomore
Joe Neggia each had two goals. Wilson finished with one goal and one assist, Harman added an assist, and Newman and sophomore
Freddy Harris also had assists in the loss.
Junior
Jake McNamara won 12-of-24 face-offs and had six ground balls and senior
Matt Warnken made nine saves in between the pipes.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they face Marymount University also down in Clearwater, FL.
