Purchase, NY (April 10, 2016) – Senior 
Chris Zampini flirted with a no-hitter into the seventh inning and the DeSales University baseball team scored 15 runs in the first game sweeping a MAC Freedom doubleheader at Manhattanville College, 15-4 and 5-1, to sweep the three-game weekend set with the Valiants on Sunday afternoon.
 
Game One (W/15-4)
The Bulldogs (15-9, 7-3 MAC Freedom) blew this game open early scoring eight times in the second inning on six hits including an RBI single from sophomore 
Conner Lafferty and two-RBI singles from junior 
Jesse Smoot and junior 
Tyler Sweeney.
 
The Valiants pulled to within 9-4 with three runs in the third inning before DeSales put exclamation point on the win in the sixth inning scoring six times including a grand slam home run from freshman 
Tommy Epsaro.
 
Junior 
Tyler Cooperman earned the win pitching four terrific innings of relief allowing just three hits and no runs.
 
Lafferty and junior 
Mike Kacergis each had three hits and two runs scored in the win.  Sweeney finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs and Epsaro had two hits, two runs scored, and four RBIs.  Senior 
Alec Hardy and Smoot also had two RBIs in the game one win.
 
Game Two (W/5-1)
Zampini was the story in game two as he did not allow a hit until the first batter of the seventh inning and finished the game allowing just two hits and one run to earn his second win of the season.
 
DSU scored once in the second inning on an RBI groundout from Sweeney, twice in the fourth on a two-RBI single from Epsaro, and twice more in the sixth on a two-RBI single from Lafferty.
 
Lafferty and freshman 
Preston Amato each had two hits, while Sweeney and Amato each scored twice.
 
The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday when they travel to Rutgers-Camden at 3:30 pm.
