Strong Second-Half keeps Men’s Lacrosse Unbeaten in MAC Freedom

Madison, NJ (April 20, 2016) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team shook off a 7-3 deficit early in the first-half and out-scored FDU-Florham 5-2 in the second-half in a 11-9 win in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.
 
The Bulldogs (4-7, 4-0 MAC Freedom) have now won four straight and sit tied atop the MAC Freedom standings with Eastern University at a perfect 4-0.
 
After the two teams traded goals in the first quarter and were tied at three, FDU-Florham (4-8, 2-2 MAC Freedom) scored four straight goals to open the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead.  DSU rallied scoring three times to end the quarter to pull within one goal (7-6) at the break.
 
The Devils scored the first goal of the second-half to take an 8-6 lead but back-to-back goals from sophomore Bryan Weber and senior Ryan Loughlin tied the scored at eight to end the quarter.
 
FDU reclaimed the lead just 27 seconds into the fourth quarter but junior Justin Wilson re-tied the game, sophomore Joe Neggia scored just 27 seconds later to give DSU a 10-9 advantage and freshman Tommy Friedman gave the Bulldogs an insurance tally with just under four minutes left to ice the victory.
 
Friedman had one goal and three assists and Wilson tallied four goals to lead the attack.  Loughlin scored three goals and Neggia finished with two goals and one assist.  Junior Tyler Newman finished with two assists, sophomore Josh Harman had an assist, and Weber scored once.
 
Freshman Matt Barry had a solid game in between the pipes making 10 stops, junior Jake McNamara won 12-of-23 face-offs, and junior Tyle Davis and freshman Nick Altland each had four ground balls to lead the way.
 
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they host Wilkes University in another MAC Freedom game beginning at 1:00 pm.
