Union, NJ (April 24, 2016) – The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon falling at Kean University, 3-1 and 8-0, in a non-conference doubleheader.
Game One (L/1-3)
Kean (17-19) hit a three-run home run in the first inning and that was all the Cougars needed as the Bulldogs (6-27) managed just one run on seven hits in game one.
DSU got its lone run in the second inning when junior
Katie Bearn hit a solo home run to lead off the frame. Bearn finished the game 2-for-3 and freshman
Leann Panconi also had two hits in the game one loss.
Sophomore
Andrea Artesani took the loss despite allowing just four hits in six innings of work.
Game Two (L/0-8)
Kean opened up a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and extended that lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning. The Cougars then opened the fifth inning with six straight hits to take an 8-0 lead thru five innings.
DeSales had just two hits in the game two loss a single by senior
Samantha Gibson and a double from sophomore
Haley Frati. Panconi took the loss allowing 15 hits over four plus innings pitched.
The Bulldogs are off until next Saturday when they will finish its season with a road MAC Freedom doubleheader at Delaware Valley University beginning at 1:00 pm.
