Softball Swept by Manhattanville

Center Valley, PA (April 8, 2016) – The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Friday afternoon falling to Manhattanville College, 14-3, in game one and 15-2 in game two.
 
Game One (L/3-14)
The Valiants (23-1, 7-1 MAC Freedom) jumped out early in game one scoring five times in the first and twice in the second to lead 7-0.  MVC added one run in the fourth and six more in the fifth to lead 14-0 before the Bulldogs (3-16, 0-6 MAC Freedom) scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning.
 
DSU got its runs in the fifth on freshman Sunny Greenberg hitting her first collegiate home run, a three-run shot with two outs.
 
Greenberg finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the attack for the Bulldogs.  Sophomore Andrea Artesani took the loss.
 
Game Two (L/2-15)
Manhattanville jumped out early once again scoring four runs in the first, five runs in the second, and three runs in the third innings.
 
DeSales got solo runs in the first and third on an RBI groundout from freshman Chandler Gottshall and a solo home run from freshman Leann Panconi.
 
Panconi finished 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored in the game two loss.
 
The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday when they host Wilkes University in another MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
