Wetherhold Sets Assist Record; Bertola Nets Four in 7-0 Win over Keystone

Center Valley, PA (September 1, 2016) – Senior Jess Wetherhold handed out two assists to take sole possession of the all-time assist record and junior Angelica Bertola tied the single-game record for goals in a game with four leading the DeSales University women's soccer team to a 7-0 win over Keystone College in the 2016 season opener on Thursday afternoon.

Wetherhold entered the season and the game in a three-way tie for the all-time record in assists with 17 but took sole possession of the mark with two assists in the win today.  She had an assist in the game's first goal and also assisted on the third goal to give her 19 career assists.

Bertola scored the first two and last two goals of the game to tie Rachel Shive and Brady Walsh for the most goals scored in a game with four.

Also scoring in the rout were junior Danni Engwall, sophomore Erin Crystal, and sophomore Amanda Foley.  Freshmen Jess Amick and Catherine Cirigliano added assists and fellow freshman Claire Bassetti had two assists in the win.

Senior Emily Hoats, sophomore Haley Jacobs, and junior Shannon Pennella each saw time in goal to combine for the shutout.  DeSales dominated play in the win out-shooting Keystone, 35-1, for the game.
