Women's Soccer Drops 3-2 Decision in Second OT to Lebanon Valley

Center Valley, PA (September 13, 2016) - Lebanon Valley's Sammy Bost scored three goals including the game-winner just 1:57 into the second overtime handing the DeSales University women's soccer team its second loss of the season, 3-2, in double overtime on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (4-2) had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but were unable to keep them in the loss.  DSU took its 1-0 lead in the 35th minute when junior Megan Arnold fed fellow junior Gabby Lucchese at the top of the box.  Lucchese turned with the ball and beat a charging keeper to the right for her second goal of the season as that lead one goal lead stood into the half.

LVC (3-1) tied the game at one just under 15 minutes into the second-half when Emmie Santoleri controlled a a corner kick from Kristin Robeson touching it to Bost who fired it into the net.

DeSales regained the lead at 83:15 when freshman Meghan Williams took one touch on a clear from a Flying Dutchmen defender and fired a shot from about five yards outside the box that beat a diving LVC keeper just inside the right post.  The Bulldogs were just under two minutes away from a 2-1 win when a DSU defender slipped just outside the box on the right side.  Bost was there to grab the loose ball and fired a long shot from about 35-40 yards out that curled just inside the far post upper 90 to tie the game at two.

Neither team was able to score in the first overtime and DSU earned a corner kick early in the second OT, LVC countered after a clear and had a throw-in deep in the corner of the field.  Bost took the throw-in, dodged two DSU defenders freeing herself for a point blank shot into the net for the game-winner.

LVC had a 15-8 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.  Both goalies made four saves including senior Emily Hoats for the Bulldogs.

DSU is back in action on Saturday when they host Christopher Newport University in another non-conference game beginning at 2:00 pm.
