Haverford, PA (September 21, 2016) - The DeSales University women's soccer team came up just short once again falling to Haverford College, 2-1, in overtime in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half that saw the Fords (5-1) out-shoot the Bulldogs (4-4), 10-0, DSU made some halftime adjustments and came ready to play in the second-half.
HC got on the board first in the 56th minute whenÂ
Anna Dekle scored unassisted from the 18 yard line.
DeSales got the tying marker at 82:36 when seniorÂ
Jess Wetherhold sent a long pass to juniorÂ
Gabby Lucchese who beat the GK with a touch and fired a shot into the net for her third goal of the year.
The game went into overtime where Haverford had back-to-back corner kicks just over four minutes into the extra period where the second was headed inside the far post for the game-winning goal.
Haverford finished the game with a 22-6 advantage in shots. Â SophomoreÂ
Haley Jacobs made nine saves in between the pipes for DeSales.
DSU returns to action on Saturday when they host NYU on homecoming beginning at Noon.
