Center Valley, PA (September 24, 2016) - The DeSales University women's soccer team took a 1-0 lead but ultimately couldn't hold on falling to 18th ranked NYU, 4-2, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (4-5) scored first in the 29th minute when juniorÂ
Angelica Bertola fired a shot just outside the box inside the upper 90 off a feed from juniorÂ

That lead stood into the 39th minute when the Violets (6-1-1) got the tying marker on a beautiful shot off the foot fromÂ
Alex Benedict that beat the DSU keeper high and to her left.  Just 2:18 later NYU took the lead for good asÂ
Olivia Braender-Carr slipped a low shot just past a sliding Bulldog keeper to make it a 2-1 game at the half.
New York University got its insurance goal three minutes into the second-half but DSU erased the two-goal deficit when juniorÂ
Rachel Logue scored on a PK at 65:35.  NYU got the insurance tally back in the 78th minute as the final margin was posted.
The Violets had a 19-7 advantage in shots, 8-4 in shots on goal. Â NYU took six of the seven corner kicks in the game. Â SophomoreÂ
Haley Jacobs made four saves for the Bulldogs.
DSU is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Muhlenberg College for another non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
