Late Goal Spoils Women's Soccer at Muhlenberg

Allentown, PA (September 27, 2016) - Muhlenberg College scored with just over four minutes left breaking a tie at one and handing the DeSales University women's soccer team a 2-1 loss on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs (4-6) took an early 1-0 lead just 1:40 into the game when junior Angelica Bertola scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season on an assist from junior Danni Engwall.

The Mules (3-5) tied the game at one at 18:17 as the game went into the half tied at one.

After both teams had chances to take the lead in the second-half the game was nearing the end of regulation with overtime looming before MC's Carly DeNigris sent a long pass into the box where Sarah Hunter headed home the game-winner with just 4:09 left to play.

Both teams had seven shots, while the Mules had a slight 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs will look to shake off a five-game losing streak, a streak in which DSU has led in four of the five games but have been unable to hold the lead, this Saturday when they open MAC Freedom play at FDU-Florham beginning at Noon.
