St. David's, PA (January 28, 2017) – The DeSales University men's basketball team out-scored Eastern University, 22-5, over the first 10 minutes of the game and never looked back from there, sweeping the season series with an 80-66 win in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

EU got 22 points and 16 rebounds from Victor Pena and Austin Duncan finished with 10 points.  Lincoln Holley also contributed totaling eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Bulldogs (13-6, 5-3 MAC Freedom) could do no wrong over the first 10 minutes as Eastern (11-8, 6-2 MAC Freedom) opened the game shooting 2-for-19 as DeSales climbed out to the early lead peaking at 18 points (39-21) at the half after scoring the final six points of the first stanza.

The margin increased to 22 points to start the second-half before Eastern used a 10-2 run to pull within 13 (52-39) with 10:34 left to play.  The Bulldogs had the answer scoring eight straight to regain the 21-point advantage.

EU made one final push pulling within 11 points twice with the last coming at the 4:36 mark but six straight points this time by the Bulldogs ended the threat as DeSales never trailed in the win.

The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 55.3 percent from the field and took excellent care of the ball committing just 11 turnovers.  DSU's defense also held the Eagles to just 32.8 percent shooting in the win.
