Doylestown, PA (January 7, 2017) - The DeSales University men's basketball team finished the game on a 24-12 run breaking a tie at 60 with six minutes to go en route to an 84-72 win at Delaware Valley University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.
Six different players reached double digits in the win including seniorÂ
Brandon Bridy with a season-high 20 points and seven rebounds.  JuniorÂ
Connor Jones had 14 points off the bench, seniorÂ
Kuity Slanger finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, seniorÂ
Brian Laird had 12 points, and seniorÂ
Ryan Callahan and freshmanÂ
Tracy Simsick each had 11 points.
The Aggies (6-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom) got 22 points fromÂ
Tyliek Kimbrough, 17 points fromÂ
Alex Matsinye, and 16 tallies fromÂ
Mike Cianciulli in the loss. Â
Tyrea Williams finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks.
DSU (10-3, 2-0 MAC Freedom) trailed 7-4 early before using a 21-3 run to take a 25-10 lead at the 9:35 mark of the opening half. Â DVU got within five points with 3:12 left in the half before a 7-0 Bulldog run pushed the lead back to 12 points and was 13 at the break after a lay-up at the buzzer from Slanger.
The Bulldogs led 60-49 at the 13 minute mark when they went cold from the field, not scoring a point over the next seven minutes before two free throws from Slanger ended the drought and broke a tie at 60 with 6:06 remaining.
A jumper from Slanger followed by a triple from Jones finished off a quick 7-0 run and Laird added a trey at the 2:42 mark to push DSU ahead 71-63. Â After a few defensive stops Jones was fouled and the Aggies were issued a technical foul on the play as Jones and Laird each knocked down two charity tosses giving DeSales a 75-63 lead with 1:32 to go clinching the win.
DeSales finished the game shooting 47.2 percent and did a terrific job taking care of the ball on the road committing just nine turnovers as compared to 15 for the hosts. Â DSU was also a very efficient 8-for-18 from outside the arc in the win.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they host Manhattanville College in another MAC Freedom game set to begin at 8:00 pm.
