Men's Soccer Rolls to 11th Shutout; 3-0 over Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (October 17, 2017) - Freshman Sean Tunney (Clondalkin, Ireland) scored 57 seconds into the game and the DeSales University men's soccer team recorded its 11th shutout of the season blanking Delaware Valley University, 3-0, in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday afternoon.

After earning a free kick early in the game junior Max Cortina (Pittstown, NJ) sent a ball into the middle of the box where Tunney headed a ball just under the crossbar for the game's first goal just 57 seconds into the game.

That lead stood into halftime before DeSales added two more in the second-half.

Junior Justin Habick (Effort, PA) tallied his team-leading eighth at 60:02 when freshman Cooper Moyer (Doylestown, PA/) flicked a pass into the box to the back post where junior Alex DiRienzo (Newark, DE) touched a pass back into the middle of the box to a wide open Habick who fired a shot into the net.

Freshman Kishan Modessa (Allentown, PA) finalized the scoring at 68:01 taking a pass over the top of the defense from DiRienzo and scoring his first career goal past a charging Aggie keeper.

The shutout is DSU's 11th of the season, tying the single-season record and is also senior Dan Sulpizio (Philadelphia, PA) 10th of the year, tying him with Rusty Riedmiller for the single-season mark.  Sulpizio is now two shy of tying Riedmiller for the career record recording his 19th career shutout.

DeSales out-shot DVU, 12-2, and took all eight corner kicks in the game.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to King's College for a very important MAC Freedom game set to begin at 4:00 pm.
