Aston, PA (October 28, 2017) - The DeSales University volleyball team finished up the regular season schedule splitting a tri-match at Neumann University with a win over Knights and a loss to Stockton University on Saturday afternoon.
Match #1 (W/3-0 vs. Neumann)
The Bulldogs dominated Neumann hitting .295 for the match with 39 kills and just 11 errors to win the match 25-17, 25-15, 25-23.
Junior
Gabby Savite` (Hackettstown, NJ) was the lone Bulldog with double digit kills totaling 12 to go along with 12 digs. Freshman
Grace Merritt (Newark, DE) added eight kills and hit .467 and fellow freshman
Noel Kelly (Saylorsburg, PA) added nine kills and hit .529. Freshman
Julia Bradford (Mertztown, PA) finished with 34 assists in the win.
Match #2 (L/2-3 vs. Stockton)
The second match was a five-set battle that saw the first four sets decided by a total of only nine points. DSU won the first and third sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-22, while Stockton took sets two and four by scores of 27-25 and 25-23. The Ospreys then rallied to win the fifth set, 15-7, to take the match.
Both teams hit well with DSU posting a .256 hitting percentage and Stockton finishing with a .272 hitting percentage.
Four Bulldogs had double digit kills including Savite` with 20 kills and 19 digs. Kelly added 15 kills and Merritt finished with 13 kills. Sophomore
Morghan Shoemaker (Allentown, PA) added 11 kills and three blocks.
Bradford totaled 57 assists and 10 digs, while junior
Natalie Gray (Aston, PA) finished 19 digs. Sophomore
Cristal Fernandez (Whitehall, PA)Â had 11 digs and senior
Jessica Ament (Camden, DE)Â added 12 digs.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they host King's College in the semifinals of the MAC Freedom postseason tournament beginning at 7:00 pm in Billera Hall.
