Second-Half PK Leads Men's Soccer to 1-1 Tie at Misericordia

Dallas, PA (October 7, 2017) - Junior Justin Habick (Effort, PA) scored his seventh goal of the season on a penalty kick with 9:04 left in the second-half leading the DeSales University men's soccer team to a 1-1 double overtime tie at Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday evening.

Trailing 1-0 late in the game the Bulldogs (9-1-2, 1-0-1 MAC Freedom) drew a foul at the top of the box awarding them a PK with 9:04 left to play.  Habick converted the PK, his fourth penalty kick goal of the season, tying the score as the game headed into overtime.

DeSales had a golden opportunity to win it with just under two minutes left in the first overtime as a ball put back into the box off a corner kick clear was loose with the Cougar goalie out of position but a shot from sophomore Javaughn Hussett (Whitehall, PA) was saved off the line by a Misericordia defender keeping the game tied.

DSU finished the game with a 19-16 advantage in shots and a 9-5 edge in corner kicks for the game.  The tie moves DSU's unbeaten streak to 11-straight breaking the previous mark of 10 set during the 2011 season.

Senior Dan Sulpizio (Philadelphia, PA) was once again solid in goal making five saves in between the pipes.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Manhattanville College for a MAC Freedom game set to begin at 4:00 pm.
