Kweku Dawson-Amoah (Stewartsville, NJ) poured in a game-high 19 points and grabbed six rebounds leading the DeSales University men's basketball team to its eighth straight win, 72-49, over Gettysburg College on day one of the Al Senavitis Memorial Tournament on Friday evening.
The Bulldogs (9-1) will take on Drew University in the tournament championship tomorrow in Billera Hall beginning at 4:00 pm.
Dawson-Amoah shot 8-for-11 from the field and junior
Luke Connaghan (Warrington, PA) also reached double digits with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Senior
Connor Jones (Hawley, PA) and sophomore
Tracy Simsick (Harleysville, PA) each added nine points and senior
Steven Ciotti (Yardley, PA)Â had six assists and no turnovers in the win.
Nick Lord led the Bullets (2-7) with 15 points as the lone scorer in double figures.
DeSales came out slow having not played since Dec. 9th as Gettysburg led for the first 12 and a half minutes before a three from Jones gave DSU its first lead, 17-15, at the 7:24 mark. Tied at 25 the Bulldogs then closed the half on an 8-0 run and that run extended into the second-half when DeSales scored the first 11 points of the half to take a 44-25 lead with 16:23 left to play.
The lead grew to as many as 24 points at the 4:19 mark as DSU never looked back in the second-half.
The Bulldogs shot 54.4 percent from the field in the win and dominated the paint, doubling up the Bullets, 42-21, on the glass and scored 52 of its 72 points in the paint, out-scoring GC, 52-26 inside the lane.
