Big First-Half Leads Men's Hoops to Fifth Straight Win, 66-60, at PSU-Harrisburg

Middletown, PA (December 4, 2017) - The DeSales University men's basketball team out-scored PSU-Harrisburg 37-16 in the first-half en route to a 66-60 win in non-conference action on Monday evening.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Tracy Simsick (Harleysville, PA) who poured in a season-high 18 points, while junior Luke Connaghan (Warrington, PA) (12 points) and senior Connor Jones (Hawley, PA) (11 points) also reached double figures.  Sophomore Kweku Dawson-Amoah (Stewartsville, NJ) added eight points and eight rebounds in the win.

PSU-Harrisburg (4-3) got double digits from Kahlil Williams (16 points, 10 rebounds), Tariq Bennett (11 points), and Trent Thomas (10 points) in the loss.

After the Nittany Lions took an early 5-3 lead the Bulldogs (6-1) went to work on a 28-5 run over the next 13 minutes taking a 31-10 lead at the 6:33 mark.  It was DSU's defense that was the story holding PSU-Harrisburg to just 22.6 percent shooting in the first-half.

The lead remained comfortable at the 9:41 mark of the second-half when the Bulldogs had control, 50-28, before going cold from the field themselves as the Nittany Lions used a 16-2 run to pull within eight (52-44) at the 4:54 mark.

The lead fell to as low as six points at the 3:02 mark before DeSales slowly regained a double digit advantage with 1:34 left and iced the game from the free throw line over the final 90 seconds.

DeSales finished the game shooting 44.7 percent from the field and held PSU-Harrisburg to just 35.2 percent shooting.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday when they return to the road taking on PSU-Berks in another non-conference game.
