Center Valley, PA (March 21, 2017) - The DeSales University women's tennis team extended its win streak to nine straight defeating Arcadia University, 7-2, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (9-1) are now one win shy of the school-record for consecutive wins set by the 2005 team when they started the season with a perfect 10-0 record.
DSU opened with three straight wins in the doubles action that included juniorÂ
Kelly Nguyen and freshmanÂ
Amber Achenbach winning 8-3 at the No. 1 position, seniorÂ
Lindsay Driscoll and freshmanÂ
Sarah Lightner winning 8-3 at the No. 2 spot, and freshman
Kelsey Kazlauskas and seniorÂ
Melissa Tucker winning 8-0 in the No. 3 spot.
In singles action Nguyen was a 6-2, 6-0 winner in the No. 1 spot, Achenbach earned a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 win in the No. 3 slot, seniorÂ
Shannon O'Malley won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4, and freshmanÂ
Sarah Chan won 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 6 spot.
The Bulldogs will look to tie the record for most consecutive wins next week when they host the College of St. Elizabeth on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
