Softball Splits Two; Falls to Aurora, Beats Beloit

Kissimmee, FL (March 8, 2017) - The DeSales University softball split a doubleheader for the third straight time in its spring trip to Florida on Wednesday falling to Aurora University in the first game before rebounding to defeat Beloit College in game two.

Game One (L/0-9 vs. Aurora)
A slow start for both teams saw Aurora leading 1-0 after three innings but explode late for another run in the fourth, three runs in the fifth, and four in the sixth to provide the final tally.

DSU (3-5) had just four hits in the loss.  Freshman Shannon Hill suffered the loss allowing four earned runs over five innings, striking out two.

Game Two (W/9-1 vs. Beloit)
The Bulldogs started quickly and never looked back in the second game of the day. DSU scored three times in the first on a two-RBI single from sophomore Carly Benjamin and an RBI single from sophomore Leann Panconi and four times in the second on a bases loaded walk from senior Alexa Beaumont and a bases clearing double from Benjamin to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

DSU added two more runs in the fourth on a two-RBI single from Benjamin just before Beloit scored its lone run of the game in the bottom half of the frame.

Junior Andrea Artesani earned the win pitching five strong innings allowing two hits and striking out four.  Benjamin finished 3-for-3 with seven RBIs, Beaumont scored three times and junior Haley Frati had two hits and scored twice in the win.

The Bulldogs finish up their spring trip tomorrow playing two more games vs. Thomas More College and PSU-Altoona.
