Strong Finish Gives Women's Lacrosse Historic Win, 15-10, over Gwynedd-Mercy

Gwynedd-Valley, PA (March 8, 2017) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team seven of the last eight goals erasing a 9-8 deficit to record the program's first-ever win, 15-10, over Gwynedd-Mercy University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (1-3) started the game strong scoring five of the first six goals to take a 5-1 lead but the Griffins (0-3) caught fire and finished the half with six of the last eight tallies to tie the score at seven on a goal with just 55 seconds left.

GMU scored two of the first three goals to start the second-half and led by one for nearly seven minutes before sophomore Sydney Kane scored unassisted twice in a span of 1:25 to give DSU a one-goal lead it would never relinquish.

The Bulldogs finished the game with seven of the last eight goals to win their first-ever game in the program's first year as a varsity sport.

Junior Danielle Burke led the scoring charge with three goals and three assists and junior Kelly Meade finished with four goals and an assist in the win.  Junior Sydney Mursko had one goal and three assists, Kane finished with three goals, and freshman Katie Kingsland had two goals and an assist.  Junior Maggie Zaleski rounded out the scoring with two goals.

Made, Kane, and Burke also led the team with four draw controls, Mursko picked up a team-high five ground balls, and sophomore Lori King made five saves in goal.
