Softball Falls Twice at Lebanon Valley, 2-0 and 3-1

Annville, PA (April 17, 2017) - The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon falling at Lebanon Valley College, 2-0 and 3-1.

Game One (L/0-2)
The Bulldogs managed just one hit, a single from freshman Madison Coughlin, in the sixth inning in game one as LVC's Madeline Abbot struck out two and did not allow a runner to reach second base.

LVC (20-10) got solo runs in the second and third.  In the second inning a lead-off walk eventually scored after a sacrifice bunt, and two wild pitches advanced the runner home.  In the third, another leadoff walk scored after two ground outs and a single up the middle.

Junior Andrea Artesani suffered the loss despite pitching well allowing two runs on six hits over six innings of work.

Game Two (L/1-3)
DeSales (11-19) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning when freshman Emma Izzo scampered on a strikeout wild pitch with the bases loaded that allowed all runners to advance safely extending the inning.

LVC however had the answer scoring twice in the bottom of the inning three singles and two DSU errors and added a third run in the sixth as the Bulldogs went in order in the final two innings.

Coughlin had two more hits in the loss.  Junior Hailey Warner started and pitched three scoreless allowing just one hit.  Freshman Shannon Hill took the loss allowing one earned over two innings.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday when they travel to William Paterson University for a non-conference doubleheader set to begin at 3:00 pm.
