Wayne, NJ (April 20, 2017) - The DeSales University softball team suffered identical 8-0 losses to #18 William Paterson University in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
Game One (L/0-8)
WPU (22-8) broke open a close game in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring seven runs, five of which were unearned, to take an 8-0 lead and the Bulldogs (11-21) were unable to get anything going offensively not recording a hit in the game.
DSU did have two runners reach base in the first inning on an error and walk but left them stranded and went in order in each of the last four at-bats.
JuniorÂ
Andrea Artesani took the loss allowing three earned over four innings, striking out two.
Game Two (L/0-8)
The Pioneers got two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead and it was still a 2-0 game into third inning when DSU put runners on second and third with one out after a double from freshmanÂ
Erin Redden but were unable to push a run across and WPU got two more in the bottom of the third and four in the bottom of the fourth to post the final tally.
JuniorÂ
Hailey Warner took the loss allowing 10 hits and seven runs over three innings of work.  Redden had two of DSU's four hits.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Manhattanville College for a MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
