Brian Hayhurst earned the clinching point with a straight set win at No. 6 singles leading the DeSales University men's tennis team past Misericordia University, 5-4, in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday afternoon.
The win moves DeSales to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom. DSU is now just a win over Eastern University on Saturday away from clinching a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.
DSU started strong on Tuesday winning two of the three doubles matches as sophomore
Josh Ferraro and senior
Jeffrey Julien earned an 8-3 win in the No. 2 spot and Hayhurst and freshman
Ben Greb won 8-3 in the No. 3 spot.
Ferraro also won in singles, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot, freshman
Jake McKinney won 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 5 spot, and Hayhurst won 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 spot to clinch the fifth point for the Bulldogs.
