Men's Lacrosse Clinches Playoff Spot with 16-9 Win at King's

Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 26, 2017) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team clinched its fourth trip in the last five years to the MAC Freedom postseason tournament with a 16-9 win over King's College in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

It is the second straight year and the fourth time in the last five years DSU will be in the conference postseason.  The Bulldogs (7-6, 4-2 MAC Freedom) have clinched the #3 seed and will be on the road in the semifinal round, regardless of the outcome of the last game of the regular season this upcoming Saturday.  In fact all four seeds are clinched for the postseason tournament with Misericordia having already clinched the top seed, Eastern University will be the two seed, DeSales the third seed, and FDU-Florham the fourth seed.

DeSales strrted quickly on Wednesday scoring three of the four goals in the first quarter and scored three straight goals to end the second quarter taking a 8-3 lead into the halftime locker room after a tally from junior Bryan Weber with just seven seconds left.

DSU extended its lead to six by the end of the third quarter and cruised in the fourth quarter for the win.

Junior Josh Harman was outstanding finishing with four goals and three assists, while freshman Eric Magro also scored four times and had one assist.

Senior Justin Wilson and Weber each scored three times, while sophomore John Ramos and junior Tommy Friedman also scored once.  Freshman Justin Monaghan had two assists and Ramos added a helper in the win.

Freshman Frank Krug had a team-high seven ground balls and four more caused turnovers, while senior Sean Palen also forced four turnovers and had four ground balls.  Sophomore Matt Barry finished with 11 saves in between the pipes.

The Bulldogs will close out the regular season at Misericordia University on Saturday with game time set for 1:00 pm.
