Turoscy Wins 300th at DeSales as Softball Sweeps Centenary

Center Valley, PA (April 26, 2017) - Head coach Rachel Turoscy won her 300th game in a DeSales uniform as the Bulldogs earned a doubleheader sweep of Centenary University 4-0 and 18-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

Turoscy won her 300th game in the DeSales dugout in the game one win.  She now has 3-1 careers wins as the Bulldogs head coach and 318 career wins after also winning 17 games while coaching at Cedar Crest College.

Game One (W/4-0)
DSU took control of a scoreless game in the fifth inning of game one scoring twice on an RBI single from sophomore Carly Benjamin and a sacrific fly from senior Alexa Beaumont.  The Bulldogs added two more runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles from senior Shannon McCann and sophomore Leann Panconi.

Junior Andrea Artesani did the rest allowing just two hits and striking out five to earn her sixth win of the season.

Panconi, Artesani, and McCann each had two hits in the game one win.

Game Two (W/18-0)
DeSales dominated game two scoring six times in the first inning, five times in the third inning, and seven times in the fourth inning to record an 18-0 win.  Junior Hailey Warner earned the win allowing just three hits over five innings, striking out six, for her fifth win of the season.

Offensively, DSU had 15 hits including two from Beaumont, freshman Madison Coughlin had two hits and three RBIs, sophomore Madeleine Nasir had two hits and five RBIs, including a two-run home run, and Artesani also had two hits.  Junior exchange student Lauren Stone from Australia also had her first career hit in the win.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday hosting Misericordia University in a very important MAC Freedom doubleheader as the Bulldogs need to sweep the Cougars to have a chance at earning a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.  FIrst pitch in game one is set for 1:00 pm.
