Dallas, PA (April 29, 2017) - The DeSales University baseball team completed a three-game weekend sweep of Misericordia University winning twice on Saturday afternoon by scores of 11-3 and 6-3, in a MAC Freedom doubleheader at Tambur Field.
The sweep moves DSU (21-14, 14-4 MAC Freedom) into first place in the MAC Freedom standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season next week. Â DeSales' magic number is two (combination of DSU wins and Misericordia losses) to clinch the top seed for the MAC Freedom postseason tournament held at Owls Field on May 12-14.
Game One (W/11-3)
DSU exploded for seven runs in the second inning erasing a 3-1 first inning deficit, cruising to the game one victory.
After the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a Cougar (23-11, 13-5 MAC Freedom) error, MU answered with three runs (two unearned) of its own to take a 3-1 lead after one frame.

The Bulldogs got two more in the sixth on a two-run home run from freshmanÂ

Andrew Schuler did the rest pitching his fifth complete-game of the year scattering eight hits over seven innings allowing just one earned run, striking out eight. DePaul and Diaz each had two hits in the game one win.
Game Two (W/6-3)
Both teams exchanged runs in the third inning before DSU took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on an RBI single from Amato.
Misericordia battled back with a two-out, two-run RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead but the Bulldogs plated four runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn the win. Â DePaul had an RBI squeeze bunt to tie the game and DSU took the lead on Cougar error before sophomoreÂ
Tommy Epsaro provided the insurance with a two-RBI double off the centerfield wall.

Ryan Passaro pitched great in a no-decision allowing just three hits over 5 2/3 innings.  JuniorÂ
Konner Schneider earned the win in relief and sophomoreÂ
Austin Kroeger recorded his second save of the weekend getting the final two outs of the game.
Amato finished 3-for-4 with two runs to lead the game two offensive attack.

TW Cooper Insurance Player of the Day honors with his fifth complete-game of the year striking out eight and not issuing a walk.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Monday when they host local rival Muhlenberg College in a non-conference game slated to begin at 4:00 pm.
