Center Valley, PA (May 1, 2017) - The DeSales University baseball team won its fifth straight game Monday afternoon with a 9-2 win over local rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action at Butz Field.

The Mules (16-21) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run from Robbie Hopes before the Bulldogs (22-14) took control with a five run second inning.  Freshman Sergio Diaz knocked in DSU's first run with an RBI single, freshman Michael White had an RBI, sophomore Preston Amato had a two-RBI single and the Bulldogs scored a run on a wild pitch.

Leading 6-2 in the fifth inning, Diaz had an RBI double plating sophomore Tommy Epsaro that hit the base of the wall in right field and scored two batters later on an RBI groundout from senior Danny Licamara.  Senior Pat Rhoads knocked in the game's final run with an RBI base knock in the eighth inning.

Sophomore Felix Martinez Jr. improved to 6-1 on the bump pitching five strong innings allowing four hits and two runs.  Diax had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, while White and Epsaro also scored twice.

Diaz earns TW Cooper Insurance Player of the Game honors.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, adding a non-conference game with Drew University at Butz Field at 4:00 pm.
