Madison, NJ (April 3, 2017) - Sophomore
Tommy Epsaro hit two home runs, both in the fourth inning, leading a nine-run fourth inning explosion en route to a 16-2 win over FDU-Florham on Monday afternoon in MAC Freedom action.
The Bulldogs (9-10, 5-1 MAC Freedom) manufactured solo runs in the first and second innings on an RBI single from senior
Tommy DePaul and and RBI ground out from senior
Danny Licamara to take a 2-0 lead before the Devils (6-7, 1-4 MAC Freedom) got one back in the top of the fourth inning to pull within a run.
DSU then took the game over scoring nine times in the fourth inning to take an 11-1 lead and never looked back from there.
Epsaro led the inning off with a home run before Licamara doubled home senior
Richie Lancashire. Sophomore
Preston Amato singled home Licamara and a few batters later Epsaro hit his second homer of the inning, a three-run shot and Licamara had another RBI single to finish off the inning.
DeSales tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning when senior
Michael Hronich hit a grand slam to highlight the inning.
Epsaro finished 2-for-5 with four RBIs, Licamara had two hits and three RBIs, and Amato, DePaul, freshman
Sergio Diaz, and Lancashire also each had two hits to lead the offense.
Junior
Adam Donovan earned the win on the bump in this one with a terrific bounce back outing surrendering just two runs over 6 2/3 innings, striking out 11 and walking just three for his first win of the year.
Epsaro earns TW Cooper Insurance Player of the Game honors hitting two home runs and knocking in four runs during the clinching inning.
The Bulldogs are schedule to return to action on Wednesday when they host Ursinus College in a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
