Center Valley, PA (April 8, 2017) - Sophomore
Madeleine Nasir had a pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one giving the DeSales University softball team a walk-off win and ultimately a split of a MAC Freedom doubleheader vs. King's College on Saturday afternoon.
Game One (W/7-6)
The Bulldogs (9-11, 2-4 MAC Freedom) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single from freshman
Madison Coughlin before the Monarchs (10-8, 5-3 MAC Freedom) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning.
DSU wasted no time reclaiming the lead with four runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run from sophomore

Sunny Greenberg. DeSales added another run in the fifth on a Monarch and ground out from Greenberg to lead 6-2.
King's got two runs back in the sixth inning on three hits and a costly Bulldog error and eventually tied the game in the seventh on a two-run home run from
Rachel DeTore, but the Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the frame as Coughlin doubled with one out, sophomore
Adrianna Barone came on to pinch-run and Nasir singled her home with the game-winning run with two outs giving the Bulldogs the 7-6 win.
Junior
Andrea Artesani earned the win in the circle scattering nine hits over seven innings allowing four earned runs, striking out five. Coughlin and senior
Alexa Beaumont each had three hits, while Panconi finished with two hits and two RBIs and junior
Haley Frati also had two hits.
Game Two (L/4-5)
DSU took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on RBI singles from Beaumont and Coughlin before King's got on the board with two unearned tallies in the fourth taking advantage of two DSU errors to tie the game at two.
The Monarchs gained a 3-2 lead in the sixth taking advantage of a passed ball by the Bulldogs and tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh to claim a 5-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh the Bulldogs threatened as freshman
Emma Izzo led off with an infield single. With one out, King's made consecutive errors, dropping a fly ball in right field and bobbling a ground ball at second base giving DSU a chance. Beaumont had an RBI single making it 5-3 and another Monarch errors had everybody safe once again making it a one-run game with the bases still loaded and one out. DeSales was unable to push across the tying run however as consecutive pop outs ended the threat with KC clinging to a 5-4 win.
Warner was the hard luck loser allowing just two earned runs and striking out six over seven innings. Beaumont and Coughlin each had two hits and two RBIs and Frati scored twice in the loss.
The Bulldogs are right back to action tomorrow when they travel to Montclair State University for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
